At LiquidThoughts, we already consider cocktails with wine to be one of the most underrated categories of all. Even when it does appear in some form (apart from port, sherry, etc.), it usually serves as a light filler in an otherwise uninspiring drink. Here we have a variation from Mr. Difford himself that I personally would like to see more often: as an equal component in an elegant, stirred cocktail.

A very well-balanced blend, the tart and fresh wine counteracts the 20ml of banana liqueur very well. Cachaça is a fantastic choice for the fruity notes of the wine, and with a hint of intense Hampden Rum Fire, the result is a tropical yet elegant composition. I'm not a fan of the name, though, as it sounds like something straight out of the (worse) tiki books of the 1980s.
