Killer In Red
Recipe:
- 22.5ml Campari (we rec. 15ml)
- 22.5ml London dry gin
- 22.5ml bianco vermouth
- 15ml Grand Marnier (we rec. 10ml)
Stir everything on ice until sufficiently chilled, strain into a prechilled cocktail glass. Add some drops of rose essential oil on top as garnish.
This bittersweet nightcap, with its beautiful color, was introduced by Campari in 2017 to accompany their Red Diaries campaign including a elaborate short film.
To be honest, just as I suspected after reading the recipe, it was a bit too sweet for my taste. I'd recommend reducing the Campari to 15ml and, especially, the Grand Marnier to 10ml (though we still post the original recipe above). It's a nice combination of bitterness, a hint of crisp freshness from the gin, and, of course, sweetness. The rose essential oils as a garnish are nice, but I might actually prefer to use a small spritz from the aromatizer on the finished drink, since individual drops tend to lose their impact after 2–3 sips.
